Dirty Soda or Coffee? Choose Your Next Hermitage Café Order
Coffee flavor or soda fizz? Compare temperature, texture and drink options before your next visit to The Straw in Hermitage.

Coffee and fizz can share a routine
Dirty sodas are not replacing coffee at The Straw. They are joining it. One visit might call for an iced latte; another might be the right moment for a coconut-lime soda. You do not have to choose a permanent side.
The difference starts with the base. Coffee drinks are built around brewed coffee or espresso. Dirty sodas start with a soft drink and add flavors or extras. Both offer different ways to find a drink you enjoy.
Four ways to narrow down your order
Instead of asking which drink is the new coffee, decide what you want from this particular cup. Temperature and texture are useful places to start; then choose the flavor you actually enjoy.
- Want a warm drink? Start with the hot coffee menu: fresh brewed coffee, an Americano, a latte or a cappuccino.
- Want coffee flavor over ice? Compare Cold Brew, Iced Americano and Iced Latte. The preparations and milk content differ.
- Want fizz and a familiar soda base? Start with a dirty soda, then choose fruit, coconut, vanilla or a creamy finish.
- Want a blended coffee texture? Look at Coffee Frappé. A blended drink is a different experience from either an iced latte or a fizzy soda.
When you are in a coffee mood
Choose coffee when its flavor is what you are craving. Our iced coffee menu includes Cold Brew, Iced Americano, Iced Latte and Iced Macchiato, while the hot menu includes fresh brewed coffee, espresso, lattes and cappuccinos.
Milk and syrup choices can change the character of your cup. Tell the team whether you prefer coffee-forward, milky or a flavored coffee. Our iced coffee guide explains the preparations in more detail. We keep regular milk and creamer for coffee; ask which other milk or flavor options work with your order.
When you are in a fizzy mood
A dirty soda is a way to start with familiar fizz and try another flavor. Coconut Lime Dr Pepper combines coconut syrup, lime juice and cream with Dr Pepper. Vanilla Cherry Coke uses cherry and vanilla syrups with Coke. Root Beer Float adds sweet cream to root beer.
Our soda bases are Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Orange Fanta, Dr Pepper and root beer. For a first soda order, the Dirty Soda 101 guide walks through choosing a base, flavor, extras and size.
Comparing caffeine, sugar or ingredients?
The drink name is not enough to compare caffeine or sugar. Coffee preparations differ, soda bases differ, and syrups or cream add ingredients of their own. A Diet Coke base does not make every finished combination sugar-free. We do not publish verified caffeine amounts, nutrition measurements or allergen information.
If those details determine your choice, speak with our team about the exact recipe before ordering. A flavored coffee and a dirty soda are choices by taste here, not a promise of a particular energy boost or health benefit.
There is more than coffee and soda
Maybe neither sounds quite right today. Brown Sugar Milk Boba brings milk, brown sugar syrup and chewy pearls. Mango Berry Cosmo blends mango, strawberry and blueberries with coconut milk. Jasmine fruit teas offer another direction.
